| I am writing this out of concern for our future...with our industries and lust for our own ambitions we are destroying what's left of beauty...The stars in the sky are slowly disappearing one by one because of the toxic pollution we have harvested in our air and in our bodies...Our resources are depleting at an alarming rate.. gas prices have sky rocketed... Fastfood restraunts are destroying this country... the World Health Organization has called obesity a "global epidemic" as well as "obesity will surpass smoking as the leading cause of preventable death in America" And yet somehow.. McDonald's feeds more than 46 million people a day, that's more than the whole population of spain... and better yet... the market for this is growing... In 1972 3 billion a year was spent on fast food, today we spend more than 110 per year... More and more money is being wasted on new ways to keep us buying every little thing they produce... ways to "make us happy"... Then I ask, how come depressive disorders approximately affect 18.8 million of Americans ages 18 and older in a given year... that includes major depressive disorder, dysthymic disorder, and
bipolar disorder. And also if any of you think that pollution isn't a huge problem we need to deal with.. just remember, the Canadian government allow 1,800,000 kilograms of known, proven cancer
causing chemicals to be injected into their air and water every year. it is reported that the pollution in canada kills about 25,000 a year.. the interesting thing is that we never seem to actually do anything about this... nobody is standing up for what's right... In a study after viewing images of fashion models, seven out of ten people felt more depressed and angry than prior to viewing the images... Things like that just seem to make people more judgmental anyways...
